1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Mezan ("the Service"), operated by Mezan ("we," "us," or "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our Service.

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

2. Description of Service

Mezan is a financial technology platform that helps users calculate their Zakat obligations by aggregating financial account data through secure third-party integrations (Plaid) and applying Islamic jurisprudential rules to determine Zakatable assets.

The Service is intended for informational purposes only. Mezan does not provide religious rulings (fatwas), legal advice, tax advice, or financial advice. Users are encouraged to consult with qualified Islamic scholars and financial professionals for personalized guidance.

3. User Accounts

To use the Service, you must create an account using Google OAuth authentication. You are responsible for:

• Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
• All activities that occur under your account
• Ensuring your account information is accurate and current
• Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and use the Service.

4. Financial Data and Third-Party Services

Our Service integrates with Plaid Inc. to securely access your financial account data. By using our Service, you authorize us to:

• Access and retrieve your financial account information through Plaid
• Store and process this information to provide Zakat calculations
• Use your information in accordance with our Privacy Policy

Your use of Plaid is also subject to Plaid's End User Privacy Policy, available at https://plaid.com/legal.

5. Payment Terms

Mezan offers tiered access plans:

• Free Tier: Limited to 1 financial account connection
• Zakat Season Pass ($10): Up to 6 account connections for 30 days
• Zakat Season Pass Ultimate ($20): Up to 15 account connections for 30 days

All payments are processed securely through Stripe. By making a purchase, you agree to Stripe's terms of service. Prices are in USD and are subject to change with notice.

By default, subscriptions do not auto-renew. If you opt into auto-renewal, you may cancel at any time before the next billing cycle. See our Refund Policy for information on refunds.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users' accounts
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
• Transmit viruses, malware, or other malicious code
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
• Use automated systems to access the Service without our permission
• Misrepresent your identity or affiliation

7. Intellectual Property

All content, features, and functionality of the Service—including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, icons, software, and the Zakat calculation algorithms—are owned by Mezan and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT:

• The Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free
• The calculations or results will be accurate, complete, or reliable
• The Service will meet your specific requirements

Zakat calculations provided by Mezan are based on the data you provide and the calculation methods you select. The accuracy of results depends on the accuracy and completeness of your financial data.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MEZAN AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:

• Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
• Any loss of profits, data, use, or goodwill
• Any damages resulting from errors in Zakat calculations
• Any damages resulting from unauthorized access to your account or data

Our total liability for any claims arising from the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Mezan and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

11. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your financial data only for the duration of your active subscription plus a 30-day grace period. After your subscription expires:

• You have a maximum of 30 days post-expiration to renew or troubleshoot any issues
• After the grace period, your Plaid access tokens will be permanently revoked via an automated process
• All associated financial records (account balances, transactions, holdings) will be permanently deleted from our production database
• You may request earlier deletion at any time by contacting support—we will process such requests within 72 hours

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause or notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms or for any other reason.

You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us at support@mezan.us. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will cease immediately.

13. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved in the courts located in Dallas County, Texas.
